Resource Allocation in a Generalized Framework for Virtualized Heterogeneous Wireless Network

Abstract: As a prevailing concept in 5G, virtualization provides efficient coordination among multiple radio access technologies (RATs) and enables multiple service providers (SPs) to share different RATs’ infrastructure. This paper proposes a generic framework for virtualizing heterogeneous wireless network with different RATs. A novel “VMAC” (virtualized medium access control) concept is introduced to converge different RAT protocols and perform inter-RAT resource allocation. To suit the proposed framework, a virtuali… Show more

“…Yet, the definition/technology, used for the common control plane, is a particularity of each work. As a matter of fact, while authors in [148] define the common multi-RAT control plane as a virtualized medium access control that converges RAT protocols and performs inter-RAT resource allocation, it is realized through a normalization of the heterogeneous radio resource, based on a deep learning method that derives RATs consumption model from the accumulated historical data for efficient radio resources RAT selection, in [147]. In [149], a virtual BS pool, supporting different RATs, was implemented thanks to SDR.…”
