Resonant ion-pair formation in electron recombination withHF+

Abstract: The cross section for resonant ion-pair formation in the collision of low-energy electrons with HF + is calculated by the solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation with multiple coupled states using a wave packet method. A diabatization procedure is proposed to obtain the electronic couplings between quasidiabatic potentials of 1 Σ + symmetry for HF. By including these couplings between the neutral states, the cross section for ion-pair formation increases with about two orders of magnitude compared … Show more

“…However, we must address the possibility that the dark upper state could be populated by vibronic interactions, which would then weaken the expected left-right asymmetry in the observed distributions since the asymmetry in the MFPADs for the lower and upper states would, when summed, cancel each other. To address this effect, it is convenient to work in the diabatic representation, for which we use a two-state model in a simplified one dimensional picture considering only the asymmetric stretch nuclear coordinate R [14,15], The diagonal adiabatic potential matrix H ', whose elements are the computed lower and upper n* states, can be transformed into a diabatic potential matrix Hrf, whose diagonal elements are the diabatic potentials and the off-diagonal elements are the electronic coupling elements. The transformation is given by…”

“…Consequently, it can influence many aspects of the molecular dynamics [18][19][20]. For the gas phase reaction of CH 4 + OH → CH 3 + H 2 O, the replacement of OH with OD reduces the free energy barrier, while substituting D for H (connected to C) increases the free energy barrier [21].…”

“…В них опре-деляются матрицы смены представления размерностью 2 × 2 для каждой отдельно рассматриваемой области неадиабатичности. В работах [20][21][22] каждая матрица 2 × 2 определена как матрица вращения и ищется ва-рьированием введенных в нее параметров. Указанные выше методы обеспечивают приближенное выполнение требований к процедуре диабатизации в выбранных областях неадиабатичности.…”
