Resolvin D1 Alleviates the Lung Ischemia Reperfusion Injury via Complement, Immunoglobulin, TLR4, and Inflammatory Factors in Rats

Abstract: Lung ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI) is still an unsolved medical issue, which negatively affects the prognosis of many lung diseases. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of RvD1 on LIRI and the potential mechanisms involved. The results revealed that the levels of complement, immunoglobulin, cytokines, sICAM-1, MPO, MDA, CINC-1, MCP-1, ANXA-1, TLR4, NF-κBp65, apoptosis index, and pulmonary permeability index were increased, whereas the levels of SOD, GSH-PX activity, and oxygenation index wer… Show more

“…24 Intravenous RvD1 administration attenuated lung injury in a rodent model of lung ischemia-reperfusion injury. 25 In this study, we administered drugs twice via the tail vein. As previously described, this simple administration method also significantly inhibited NFkB activation, leukocyte, and monocyte/macrophage infiltration into the media, proliferation of arterial wall cells, and neointimal hyperplasia within the injured artery.…”

“…Though our study suggests that lung IR injury creates inflammation that provides a beneficial host effect against bacterial pneumonia, IR inflammation in the lung and in general has been classically viewed as a maladaptive response. In fact, multiple studies have focused on the inhibition of “detrimental” lung IR inflammation to help improve or preserve organ function usually in the context of lung transplantation ( 63 66 ). Sterile injury is believed to initiate an inflammatory response whose principal goal is “restoration of physiological homeostasis through tissue repair” with accompanying fibrosis and scarring ( 47 , 67 ).…”
