Resistência à erosão por cavitação de aços inoxidáveis austeníticos CrMnSiN depositados por PTA

Abstract: Resumo (0,03%C; 0,35% N;13,2%Cr;11,8% Mn;2,8%Si; bal (0,03%C; 0,35% N;13,2%Cr;11,8% Mn;2,8%Si; bal %Fe) showed a cavitation erosion resistance quite near the most resistant commercial alloys.

“…The cavitation resistance of a material is frequently characterized by the incubation period and maximum erosion rate 7,[9][10][11][12][13] . Another less subjective parameter used to measure the initial period of cavitation and required in technical reports by ASTM G32-10, is the nominal incubation time (determined by the interception between the cavitation time axis and the extension of the maximum erosion rate line fitting, B in Figure 1a and 1b).…”

“…These alloys accommodate the impact of shock waves creating stacking faults and extending the incubation period [8][9][10]14,15 . In other metallic alloys, strain hardening during cavitation also plays an important role as a mechanism partially responsible for the magnitude of the incubation period 16 .…”

“…The specimen obtained approximately 80% less mass loss than the 30% R CW one. This area may be the result of the alloying elements interaction from the addition wire (Cr, Co, Mo) which, in certain concentrations, facilitates the c-Co phases transformation to martensite, thus improving the metallurgical properties [6,29]. The behavior of the accumulated mass loss in relation to time can be visualized in Fig.…”

“…Depositing a mixture of elemental powders, but with no addition, Ribeiro et al [16] presented the FeMnCrSi alloys cavitation resistance higher than other alloys normally applied by the welding process on hydraulic runners. The studied FeMnCrSi alloy had an erosion rate of 1.0 mg•h -1 , while E309L had 16.1 mg•h -1 , Stellite 21 1.4 mg•h -1 , and 15.0 mg•h -1 for the CA6NM.…”

“…This implosion generates micro-jets, which reach the material with energy enough to erode the hydraulic component by a fatigue mechanism [12][13]. To improve the runners' cavitation resistance, coatings have been applied by welding process on the runners' areas susceptible to cavitation, depositing materials resistant to cavitation, highlighting the cobalt stainless steels filler metal [8,13], which is widely applied by GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) [14][15][16].…”
