Resistência à eritropoetina em paciente com IRC e ectasia vascular gástrica

Abstract: We observed a case of recombinant human erythropoietin resistance caused by Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia in a 40-year-old female with ESRD on hemodialysis. Some associated factors such as autoimmune disease, hemolysis, heart and liver disease were discarded on physical examination and complementary tests. The diagnosis is based on the clinical history and endoscopic appearance of watermelon stomach. The histologic findings are fibromuscular proliferation and capillary ectasia with microvascular thrombosis o… Show more

“…The lack of EPO is the most important factor. The appearance of rHuEPO has greatly promoted the treatment of anemia of ESRD patients, effectively improved anemia, enhanced the body's resistance, reduced the risk of infection, improved the quality of life and prolonged patient survival ( 8 ). Since iron is essential for hemoglobin synthesis, deficiency of iron is a leading cause that can affect the clinical effects of EOP ( 9 ).…”
