Resistencia a antibióticos no betalactámicos de aislamientos invasores de Streptococcus pneumoniae en niños latinoamericanos: SIREVA II, 2000-2005

Abstract: High and increasing rates of isolates resistant to TMP-SMZ and erythromycin were observed, as well as a decreasing percentage of isolates resistant to chloramphenicol. These trends highlight differences among the countries studied.

“…La Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), a partir del año 1993 desarrolló un programa regional de vigilancia de laboratorio denominado SIREVA (Sistema de Redes de Vigilancia de los Agentes Responsables de Neumonias y Meningitis Bacterianas), el que a través de los años ha ido evolucionando desde el punto de vista técnico y de cobertura de patógenos meníngeos (3). La Red SIREVA ha sido un gran apoyo en el fortalecimientode los sistemas de vigilancia locales para infecciones invasoras por S. pneumoniae, y en especial en el aporte de información de laboratorio estandarizada, permitiendo la comparación de datos entre países y la emisión de información de calidad aceptada por la comunidad científica internacional (3,4,5,6,7). A partir de esta red, Chile ha adquirido la experiencia técnica conducente a la calidad de la vigilancia de laboratorio de S. pneumoniae.…”
