Resistance of plug & play N type RHS truss connections

Abstract: AbstractThe article presents concept of II generation N type RHS plug & play truss connection made in non-welded technology. Three connections of the representative truss are analyzed. Resistance calculations of these truss joints, using the component method, are shown. Test results and the theoretical resistance of these connections are compared.

“…This allows transmit stress to the top parts of anchor blocks and through they to the down parts up to the truss chord member. Concept of non-welded N RHS joints was presented in works of ) & Szlendak, Szpyrka (2020]. The joint eliminates welding as the typical technol ogy [EN 1993-1-8 CEN (2005] to connect the compressed and tension bracing with the RHS chord.…”

“…11 to 14 are shown the results of joints test and theoretical estimations of their resistance where components N1+N2, studied in this paper, could be decisive. The components N3 -N9, described other failure phenomena have been discussed in the author's study [5,8] Table 5 Geometrical dimensions and mechanical properties of tested specimens 2. Specimen WN1-WN3, when λ 0= 20 reached full resistance of connections and the displacements of RHS chord walls are small under compression.…”
