Resilience through an LGBT lens: growing up as a gay man and becoming a community leader

Abstract

To what extent does identifying as a gay man contribute to having high levels of personal resilience? Drawing on recent resilience-based research, the author offers a perspective on factors contributing to his own personal resilience while becoming an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) role model in his local community.
