Background: Secondary traumatic stress (STS) in midwives is a significant issue that can lead to emotional damage and negatively impacts maternal-newborn care. This study aimed to determine the frequency and severity of STS and its determinants among midwives working in the labor and delivery departments of West Azerbaijan, Iran. Research method: This cross-sectional analytical study included all midwives working in labor and delivery departments in 18 hospitals and four delivery facilities with rural midwifery services. Data was collected using demographic information questionnaires, the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, and some job-related questionnaires. Statistical tests, including analysis of variance and multiple linear regression using SPSS software version 23 and path analysis test using Amos software version 24, were applied to analyze the direct and indirect determinants of STS incidence. Findings: The 349 participants had a mean 6.88±6.44 years of work experience. Of the participants, 45% experienced mild to high degrees, and 37.5% experienced severe STS. The results of the path analysis showed that the desire to continue working in the midwifery profession had a direct protective effect on the occurrence of STS (β = 0.184, p = 0.009). Conversely, psychological injuries caused by adverse behavior and violence at work ( β = 0.361, p = 0.007) and job burnout (β = 0.260 , p = 0.003), had an increasing effect on the incidence of STS, both directly and indirectly. Conclusion: In addition to traumatic events, factors related to the work environment can contribute to the development of STS in midwives.

This study identified the interests and barriers felt by students as an illustration of the concern of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers. This study aims to describe the level of stress and resilience of students, their preferred coping strategy, and the correlation of stress with student resilience. This research uses a quantitative approach with a nonexperimental design. A total of 147 respondents was sampled from the 700 teenage students population. The age range of students is 16 – 18. A survey questionnaire was used to investigate the stress and resilience scale of students, namely the Perceived Stress Scale which consists of 10 items (PSS-10), and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale which consists of 10 items (CDRS-10). The results from the descriptive analysis show that very few students have an interest in learning CRE and the highest barrier is self-confidence. The results from the descriptive analysis show that the level of stress that students feel is mostly in the middle category and the low category. The level of student resilience is mostly in the medium and high categories. The results of the correlation analysis show that stress is related to resilience where the direction of the correlationis negative. It means that the students who scored higher on PSS-10 is more likely to have difficulty or lower survival capacity (low endurance score). Therefore, to reduce the impact of stress so that the students have high resilience, coping strategy efforts by CRE teachers must be carried out with high concern, so that students can focus on interests and can face various barriers.

Background:The COVID-19 disease has a negative impact on the psychophysiological health of populations worldwide, including a decrease in overall physical performance and an increase in fatigue. Fatigue was one of the main symptoms reported by patients and persisted for several weeks after infection with COVID-19. Although the phenomenon of fatigue is still poorly understood, physical activity can be a supportive factor in combating feelings of fatigue and lack of energy. The purpose of this research was to assess the physical activity (PA) and fatigue levels of teachers in Poland and the United Kingdom in the first year after the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: The online research was carried out among 410 teachers from Poland and the United Kingdom. The PA level was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The level of fatigue was measured using the Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS). Results: Polish teachers, regardless of sex, are more physically active (the differences relate mainly to walking and moderate activity). When assessing the level of fatigue, there is a significant difference between men and women -the former indicate a higher degree of fatigue, with the difference between the sexes being particularly large in the Polish community. Quite clearly, there is an association between less activity (except walking) and more fatigue. All models show a statistically significant effect of total fatigue on total effort. Physical activity is not very strongly correlated with age but the level of fatigue increases with age. Conclusions: The problem of teacher fatigue is unfortunately widespread. They should be encouraged to engage in as much PA as possible during the day. When planning and targeting fatigue reduction campaigns, PA should be encouraged and variables such as age, sex should be taken into account.
