Sexual violence is a concerning public health and criminal justice problem. Even though extensive literature has linked sexual victimization to a multitude of mental and physical problems, some victim/survivors recover and are able to lead lives without notable negative impacts. Little is known about women who experienced posttraumatic growth following sexual victimization. This review brings together knowledge accumulated in the academic literature in the past decade. It was informed by the PRISMA-P guidelines. Databases were searched using a combination of keywords to locate original peer-reviewed research articles published between January 2010 and October 2020 focusing on posttraumatic growth following sexual victimization. The initial search identified 6,187 articles with 265 articles being read in full, identifying 41 articles that were included in the analysis. The results suggest that recovery from sexual victimization is possible with the healing process being idiosyncratic. Victim/survivors employed various strategies resulting in higher degrees of functioning, which were termed growth. Following a synthesis of themes that emerged from the thematic analysis, a higher order abstraction, using creative insight through reflexivity, discussions among the research team and consistent interpretation and re-interpretation of the identified themes as a second stage analysis, resulted in the identification of two superordinate topics “relationship to self” and “relationship to others.” Findings indicated that women engaged in deliberate introspection to connect with themselves and utilized altruistic actions and activism in an attempt to prevent further sexual victimization Helping victim/survivors deal with the sexual violence facilitated growth as a collective. We concluded that helping others may be a therapeutic vehicle for PTG. Given research in this area remains in its infancy, further investigation is urgently needed.

Resumo: No meio acadêmico, além de se estudar sexualidade, deve-se encontrar meios de divulgação e de democratização de saberes relacionados. Esses saberes podem ser propagados mediante o desenvolvimento de atividades de extensão universitária. Nessa perspectiva, o objetivo do estudo em questão foi investigar como a sexualidade é trabalhada em uma universidade brasileira, de forma extensionista. O estudo foi realizado por meio de análises das informações em sistemas informatizados de atividades de extensão da universidade investigada. No levantamento foram selecionadas 54 atividades no período de 2003 a 2018. Iniciamos observando a amplitude das atividades quanto às suas tipologias e às variações de propostas ao longo dos anos. Posteriormente, foram identificadas suas áreas de conhecimento, seus respectivos públicos-alvo e objetivos. A avaliação é que as atividades se destacam dentro do viés social, e se preocupam, em especial, com a formação continuada docente, a qual pode formar multiplicadores de saberes.Palavras-chave: Educação sexual; Gênero; Extensão. The sexuality theme in extension activities: a study in a brazilian universityAbstract: Sexuality is a present theme in people routine in different spheres and institutions. According to it, in the academic environment, besides studying the theme it is needed to find ways to spread the knowledge which can be propagated through the extension activities. Following this perspective, the present paper intends to investigate how the sexuality is approached in a Brazilian university, regarding the extensionist sphere. The study was made using system computerized data about the investigated university extension activities. By the end of the survey, 54 activities were analyzed from 2003 to 2018. We started observing the activities amplitude regarding their typologies and proposals variations all over the years. After this, we identified the knowledge areas and also their respective audience and goals. The evaluation is that the activities are highlighted within the social scope and aim, specially, the teachers continuous education that can enable these ones to be knowledge multipliers.Keywords: Sexual Education; Genre; Extension.

Introducción: La resiliencia puede entenderse como un proceso de superación y persistencia contra las fragilidades experimentadas. Los adolescentes en contextos de vulnerabilidad social encuentran obstáculos en el desarrollo de su resiliencia, dificultando la visibilidad de las estrategias de afrontamiento/respuestas a las adversidades de la vida cotidiana. Objetivo: Analizar la evidencia científica disponible en la literatura sobre los factores relacionados con la resiliencia de adolescentes en contextos de vulnerabilidad social. Método: Revisión integradora de los artículos publicados en portugués, inglés o español, desde 2014 a 2018, en bibliotecas/bases Medline/Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science, LILACS, Cochrane, BDENF IBECS, CINAHL y PsycINFO. Se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores “Psychological Resilience”, “Social Vulnerability”, “Adolescent” y “Adolescent Health”, resultando en 17 artículos. La pregunta guía fue: ¿Cuáles son los factores relacionados con la resiliencia de adolescentes en contextos de vulnerabilidad social? Resultados: Se han formado cinco clases que representan los factores que contribuyen a la resiliencia en adolescentes en situación de vulnerabilidad social, nombradas como: aspiraciones para el futuro, factores de riesgo, barreras institucionales, exposición y apoyo social. Conclusión: Los factores que fortalecen la resiliencia social son el apoyo prestado por familiares, amigos, profesores, aspectos culturales y religiosos y los factores de riesgo son la violencia, la drogadicción, la falta de seguridad y apoyo institucional precario. El entendimiento de la resiliencia y especificidades que describen las condiciones de salud de los adolescentes en situación de vulnerabilidad social deben ser considerados para reorientar actividades interdisciplinarias e intersectoriales para la promoción de la salud de este grupo poblacional. Introduction: Resilience can be understood as a process of persistence and overcoming against experienced weaknesses. Adolescents in contexts of social vulnerability find obstacles in the development of their resilience, which impair the visibility of coping/answer strategies for the adversities of everyday life. Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence available in the literature on the factors related to the resilience of adolescents in contexts of social vulnerability. Method: Integrative review of articles published in Portuguese, English or Spanish, from 2014 to 2018, in libraries/databases Medline/Pubmed, Scopus, LILACS, Web of Science, IBECS, Cochrane, BDENF, CINAHL and PsycINFO. The following descriptors were used "Psychological Resilience", "Social Vulnerability", "Adolescent" and "Adolescent Health", resulting in 17 articles. The guiding question was: what are the factors related to the resilience of adolescents in contexts of social vulnerability? Results: Five classes emerged, depicting the factors that contribute to resilience in adolescents in situation of social vulnerability, namely: aspirations for the future, risk factors, institutional barriers, exposure and social support. Conclusion: The factors that strengthen resilience are the social support provided by family, friends, teachers, cultural and religious aspects, and risk factors are violence, substance abuse, lack of security and precarious institutional support. The understanding of resilience and specificities that outline the health conditions of adolescents in situation of social vulnerability must be considered to reorient interdisciplinary and intersectoral actions to promote the health of this population group.
