Problem statement: It has been observed that there are a limited number of studies on the resilience of primary and secondary school students in Turkey. However, it is acknowledged that secondary school students with difficult conditions of life also have to cope with rapid physical, psychological and social changes brought about by adolescence. For this reason, conducting research on the resilience characteristics of students within this age range would be an opportunity to enable them to acquire the abilities that will increase their resilience level. Moreover, the findings obtained from this research would contribute to the acknowledgement of protective factors, especially crisis response studies in the fields of psychological counseling and guidance services. Purpose of the Study:The general purpose of this research is to analyze perceived social support, depression and life satisfaction as predictors of the resilience of secondary school students of low socioeconomic levels. The examination of students' levels of resilience was based on gender, who they lived with, and whether their parents were together/separated and were alive/not alive. Method:The study group of the research consists of 386secondary school students. Of the students in the sample, 202 (52%) are girls, and 184 (48%) are boys. This is one woman’s story of living through times of significant change. These changes include migration overseas and entering the part-time workforce after becoming a mother in later life. It describes the surfacing of personal questions, self-reflections and actions she found helpful as she used the new experiences to reshape her identity and become more effective personally and as a social worker. Through these times she realised a desire to live more meaningfully in the midst of change, loss and uncertainty. She looks at the nature of resilience and how this can be harnessed to become stronger at home and at work. She shares her personal journey to offer hope to herself and others on a similar journey, including suggestions of ways to embrace change. The main voice is the migrant asking questions and pointing toward snippets of light she hopes will help others.

Developing meaningful ways of listening to children's views has been reinforced through legislation and this has led to new approaches, such as 'spiritual listening', being developed. 'Spiritual listening' aims to listen to children's views on philosophical concepts such as drive, destiny, happiness and purpose. The authors believe that this can support children to explore how they construct meaning in their lives and to explore connections between aspects of their behaviour or experience and their underlying belief structures. This article outlines research that formed part of a project aiming to extend the original spiritual listening research. One of the central aims was to explore children's responses to spiritual listening questions and to consider how this information develops our understanding of children's spiritual and philosophical beliefs. The research methods consisted of conducting semi-structured interviews, using the spiritual listening questions, with 20 participants (aged 10-11 years). The researchers used grounded theory to analyse children's responses and explore patterns within the data. The authors found that the children responded in interesting, varied and multifarious ways, which led to further conclusions about how this approach could be used in the future.
