Residual Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams under Sequential Small Impact Loads

Abstract: Sequential small impact loads may not collapse structures directly but could weaken the strength of structures. This study aimed to investigate the impact of these sequential small impact loads on the strength of the reinforced concrete beams. First, six sequential impact loads were applied to the test specimens. Then, the residual static capacity of the impacted specimens was determined by the ultimate static load test, compared with those of undamaged specimens. The experiment was composed of 12 specimens ha… Show more

“…Frequencies were calculated using Dewesoft software version x3 sp9, and a report was generated on the basis of the findings. The FFT spectrum analyzer samples the input signal, computes the magnitude of its sine and cosine components, and eventually displays the spectrum of these measured frequency components [21][22][23]. racquet onto the holding stand and mounting the accelerometer on the frame, which was then connected to the FFT analyzer.…”

“…Bamboo offers environmental benefits over other conventional construction materials, e.g., steel and concrete, with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) values [ 8 , 9 ]. With the merit of high flexibility, using bamboo for structural elements reduces building damage under an earthquake attack [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ] and other extreme loads [ 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ].…”

“…Experimental and numerical studies of blast loads on RC structures have been conducted. Hansapinyo et al [2] investigated the effect of the sequential small impact loads on the residual resistance of the RC beam elements with varying axial load magnitudes and shear reinforcement details. They found that the sequential impact loads decreased the concrete shear capacity of the damaged beam elements, and the more severe diagonal shear cracks were found on the impacted beam elements.…”
