Residual Energy Analysis in Cognitive Radios with Energy Harvesting UAV under Reliability and Secrecy Constraints

Abstract: The integration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with a cognitive radio (CR) technology can improve the spectrum utilization. However, UAV network services demand reliable and secure communications, along with energy efficiency to prolong battery life. We consider an energy harvesting UAV (e.g., surveillance drone) flying periodically in a circular track around a ground-mounted primary transmitter. The UAV, with limited-energy budget, harvests radio frequency energy and uses the primary spectrum band opportu… Show more

“…Optimal resource allocation strategies for all SUs are obtained by determining the loop Nash equilibrium and the feedback Nash equilibrium solutions of the proposed model. In [128], a CR-based energy harvesting approach has been used to extend the battery's lifetime for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under reliability and secrecy constraints. To reduce energy consumption, the energy harvested is maximized and the transmission energy consumption is minimized by solving a formulated optimization problem.…”

“…The validity of the proposed approach was approved by extensive simulations. In [128], the proposed CR-Based energy management scheme for UAVs has been designed in such a way that the secrecy and reliability of the system are ensured. This is illustrated by considering the scenario for the eavesdroppers.…”

“…CR based communication for UAV may be useful by utilizing already available spectrum without dedicated channel and increase coverage. Khalid et al [ 12 ] proposed UAV energy management scheme based on CR technology. They developed an analytical model for the connection outage probability, secrecy outage probability, and residual energy.…”

“…The core requirements, service categories, and enabling technologies of 6G networks present an interesting future of wireless communications [7], [8]. To derive the actualization of 6G networks, massive MIMO [9], artificial intelligence (AI) [10], efficient spectrum sharing [11], full-duplex (FD) communication [12], and reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) [13] are the potential key enabling technologies and solutions. In particular, RIS is a revolutionizing technology which reconfigures the wireless propagation environment smartly via software-controlled reflections.…”
