Reservoir permeability prediction by neural networks combined with hybrid genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization

Abstract: Reservoir characterization involves describing different reservoir properties quantitatively using various techniques in spatial variability. Nevertheless, the entire reservoir cannot be examined directly and there still exist uncertainties associated with the nature of geological data. Such uncertainties can lead to errors in the estimation of the ultimate recoverable oil. To cope with uncertainties, intelligent mathematical techniques to predict the spatial distribution of reservoir properties appear as stro… Show more

“…(6) in the nonlinear curve fitting function in OriginLab (Origin Pro 8.5) based on 410 measured results. The fitting curve of these four variables is obtained with a R 2 of 0.96, which shows a very satisfactory performance for the prediction formula (Coulibaly and Baldwin 2005;Ali Ahmadi et al 2013):…”

“…Location of the Mansouri oilfield on the map and position of the wells used in this study have shown on top of the Asmari formation (figure 2). Asmari is an asymmetric anticline dipping around 0-10 deg at both ends (Ahmadi et al, 2012). A comprehensive study by Van Buchem et al (2010) indicated that the OligoceneMiocene Asmari formation mostly consists of shallow-water carbonate depositions and siliciclastic.…”

“…It follows the northwest-southeast trend of Zagros, with the length of 30 km and width of 5 km. It consists of two major reservoirs namely Asmari and Bangestan (Ahmadi et al, 2012). Investigating lateral lithology variations, complex stratigraphy, and pore pressure of the Asmari formation throughout the basin is the main focus of this study and a major challenge for drilling companies.…”
