Research Trends of Macrophage Polarization

Abstract: Background:Macrophage polarization is involved in the development of many diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cancer. This study aimed to understand the trends and hotspots of macrophage polarization research. Methods:We searched through the Web of Science Core Collection database to obtain original articles in this research domain. CiteSpace, HistCite, and VOSviewer software were used to facilitate the analysis and visualization of scientific productivity and emerging trends. Results:The survey included 306… Show more

“…CiteSpaceV and VOSviewer 1.6.15, Java-based applications, were used to perform bibliometric analyses. VOSviewer (Netherlands' Leiden University) was used to identify journals, collaboration of countries and institutions, and co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence (van Eck and Waltman, 2010 ; Gao et al, 2018 ). The different nodes represent different countries, institutions, and keywords, while the size of the circle or font reflects the productivity.…”

“…According to Rodríguez, Alcaide, and Cobo (2018), a bibliometric analysis is defined as one of the most common and accepted methods for literature review, as it is valued as a tool to determine scientific evolution and productivity, as well as for measuring the quality of the research in a given field. Similarly, for authors such as Gao, Huang, and Wang (2018), bibliometrics consists of a quantitative analysis based on statistics and uses literature to evaluate a thematic field's development. The bibliometric analysis consists of two techniques: bibliometric performance indicators and scientific mapping.…”

“…into clusters and automatically labeling clusters with the most frequent terms from citing articles [ 14 ]. The effectiveness of this approach has been shown in different fields, for example in climate change and tourism [ 15 ], trends analysis of macrophage polarization research [ 16 ] and recently in emerging trends of biochar research and applications [ 17 ].…”
