Research Progress on Stimulus-Responsive Polymer Nanocarriers for Cancer Treatment

Abstract: As drug carriers for cancer treatment, stimulus-responsive polymer nanomaterials are a major research focus. These nanocarriers respond to specific stimulus signals (e.g., pH, redox, hypoxia, enzymes, temperature, and light) to precisely control drug release, thereby improving drug uptake rates in cancer cells and reducing drug damage to normal cells. Therefore, we reviewed the research progress in the past 6 years and the mechanisms underpinning single and multiple stimulus-responsive polymer nanocarriers in … Show more

“…Nevertheless, LA67 has poor solubility in water, weak permeability, and poor bioavailability. Encapsulating hydrophobic drugs in nanocarriers has always been an excellent solution to overcome its low solubility and can also improve its pharmacological activity [ 33 ]. Therefore, in this study, we optimized an LNP formulation for encapsulating the hydrophobic drug LA67 to enhance its water solubility, bioavailability, and efficient delivery into the keloid environment.…”

“…88 Additionally, in a clinical trial that received paclitaxel liposomal chemotherapy in combination with a PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor as a first-line therapeutic agent, treatment-related adverse events of any grade were still observed in 25 patients, and adverse events of grade 3 or worse were observed in 9 patients. 89 Therefore, the cocktail combination of ICD inducers with ICIs are not universally applicable in clinical practice.…”

“…While carrying out radical polymerization of N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAAm), it is common practice to make use of the initiator known as azobis(isobutyronitrile). Thermo-responsive polymers have a variety of applications in biological and medical fields, including medicine and gene trans-fer [39]. An investigation was conducted into the temperature dependence of the swelling of cross-linked poly(N,N-alkyl substituted acrylamides) in water.…”
