Rural settlements are important rural land use types, and rural transformation and reconstruction are global issues in the process of urbanization. Research on rural settlements has been performed form different perspectives. In this paper, we took articles on rural settlements published in the core collection of Web of Science from 1973 to 2021 as the object of measurement analysis. Literature induction was used to determine the research progress, using the Bibliometrix measurement software. We also summarized the number of published papers, authors, research institutions and cooperative relationships, and keywords and investigated the theme evolution in the field of rural settlements. The following main results were obtained: 1) the number of articles related to rural settlements published was 1,703; the time from 1973 to 2021 can be roughly divided into three evolutionary stages: the initial stage (1973–1990), the development stage (1991–2010), and the high-yield stage (2011–2021). The number of articles published increased sharply after 2011, indicating that this research field received increased attention. 2) China and the United States published the largest number of articles in this field, followed by Australia. 3) In recent years, “Immigration,” urbanization,” “Land use,” and “Floating population” were the most frequent keywords. Clustering analysis revealed four research. 4) Research in rural settlement areas changed largely over time; currently, in the context of urbanization, scientists focus on the renovation of rural settlements.

Food security and the utilization of natural resources in a sustainable manner are vital to the expansion of China's agricultural system. The relationship between environmental pressure and dietary structure has influenced the quantity and spatial distribution of China's food supply and demand, but it has not been evaluated. Our research centered on the security of China's food nutrition–resources–food (NRF) system, considering the inherent relationship between food security, nutritional health, and resource security. The following are the study's findings: (1) The Chinese population is rapidly changing from a diet focused on grains to a more diverse diet. Between 1990 and 2019, the dietary quality and nutritional status of Chinese individuals have vastly improved. In terms of nutrient levels, discrepancies between urban and rural resident persist, with urban residents consuming a diet that is closer to the ideal structure. However, the structure of rural residents' food consumption is diversifying, and the gap between urban and rural residents is gradually narrowing. (2) From 2000 to 2019, the pressure, status, and response indices of China's NRF system all show an upward trend, and the security of the NRF system has steadily grown. The magnitude of change in the response index exceeded that of the state index, which exceeded that of the pressure index. This indicates that the increase in the pressure and state indices of the NRF system was primarily attributable to the effectiveness of policy efforts.

Following the trend of green and sustainable development, multi‐application materials utilizing biomass waste have been developed, leading that trend is carbon aerogel (CA). In this study, zinc oxide‐doped CA was synthesized from bagasse cellulose (Zn‐BCA) through simple processes: Cross‐linking to form a sol‐gel system, freeze‐drying, and pyrolysis. To synthesize suitable materials, precursor and crosslinking ratios, the content of Zn2+, and pyrolysis temperature in N2 were investigated. The characteristics of ZnO were investigated through modern methods: Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The dye adsorption capacity of Zn‐BCA was evaluated through the UV‐Vis method. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties are shown through cyclic voltammetry (CVol), galvanostatic charge‐discharge (GCD), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results, and glucose sensing results were obtained through linear sweep voltammetry. Zn‐BCA shows potential for multiple applications with crystal violet pigment adsorption capacity up to 39 mg/g, specific capacitance reaching 164 F/g, and glucose sensing capabilities.This article is protected by copyright.
