A synchronous demodulation system is proposed and deployed for CO 2 dispersion interferometer on HL-2A, which aims at high plasma density measurements and real-time feedback control. In order to make sure that the demodulator and the interferometer signal are synchronous in phase, a phase adjustment (PA) method has been developed for the demodulation system. The method takes advantages of the field programmable gate array parallel and pipeline process capabilities to carry out high performance and low latency PA. Some experimental results presented show that the PA method is crucial to the synchronous demodulation system and reliable to follow the fast change of the electron density. The system can measure the lineintegrated density with a high precision of 2.0×10 18 m −2 .

The electron density is usually diagnosed by the laser-aided interferometers. The phase difference signal obtained after phase demodulation is wrapped, which is also called fringe jump. A method has been developed to unwrap the phase difference signal in real-time by using FPGA, specifically designed to handle fringe jumps in the Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) laser interferometer on the EAST superconducting tokamak. The method is designed for phase demodulator using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method at the front end. The method is better adapted for hardware implementation compared to complex mathematical analysis algorithms, like Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The method has been applied to process the phase measurement results of the HCN laser interferometer on EAST in real-time. Electron density results show a good confidence on the fringe jump unwrapping method. Further possible application on other laser interferometers, like the POlarimeter-INTerferometer (POINT) system on EAST is also discussed.

Recently, a synthetic formic-acid laser diagnostic system has been deployed in HL-2A tokamak. However, the main electronics of the subsystems were discrete devices, and multimodal data analysis remained out of reach. In this work, we developed a novel compact high sensitivity Phasemeter (CHSP) system to integrate interferometer, far-forward collective scattering diagnostic (FCS), and Faraday effect polarimeter. It provides a framework for real-time intelligent diagnosis such as plasma disruptions prediction. We also propose a Synchronous Fast Fourier Transform (SFFT) method for suppression of spectral leakage and noise reduction. Experimental results indicate that the electronics system accuracy is about 1.0× 1015/m-3, which fully meets the requirements of HL-2A. This work represents a crucial step toward a high-performance intelligent diagnosis in HL-2A.
