Research on the influence of visualized thermal environmental information on the use of outdoor spaces

Abstract

This study clarifies the influence of visualized thermal environmental information in outdoor spaces on users' space utilization. Focusing on thermal environment visualization technology, the study considered the possibility of promoting safe and comfortable space use by providing information in external spaces in Tokyo as a target site. The behavior was recorded while assessing the formed thermal environment and understanding the relationship between people's movement and staying behavior. It was observed that a larger proportion of the number of people for whom information was provided resulted in a behavioral change within the premises. Furthermore, when it was tested whether the presentation of information was a motivation for choosing a location, no significant differences were identified. This could be due to factors such as the fact that there was not a large variation in the thermal environment of each fixture.
