This paper contains the results of researches and experimentations on the reduction of the concentration of gaseous emissions and powders in the manufacture of ferrous alloys in aggregates of electric arc furnaces (EBT) coupled with a treatment plant (LF) located at Mechel Targoviste using new technology. Experiments have shown that using the new technology one achieves a reduction in pollutant gaseous emissions by about 30% and in dust content by about 25% compared to the use of classical technology, with particularly beneficial effects on the environment. The results have confirmed the validity of the new technology that used iron sponge in the loading phase, foamed slag in the melting phase and long electric arc in the production phase. The paper presents the results of the experiments using both technologies, as well as the equipment established and used in the experiments for the measurement and recording of the gaseous emissions and powders content, which ensured an accurate evaluation of the obtained results.

Protecting the environment is a matter of great importance that must be treaty very seriously, both internationally as well as nationally.The actual situation in Romania, about the economy and the state of the environment, requires the development of a program corresponding to its own interests. Given the specific situation of Romania, the transition to a strong market economy, the restructuring of the economy, the stages that we will go through this market strategy, will mark certain phases with clear objectives.The paper will present the objectives of environmental protection strategy's, industrial risk analysis that affect environmental quality, environmental impact assessment methods and problems of ecological marking of the products. Based on strategies can be developed economic and environmental programs, which must be completed in order to achieve the set objectives, either macroeconomic, sectorial, regional, operative coordination (mandatory) or programs of measures at the firm level, and, why not, national plans.

The paper presents aspects concerning the appreciation of the protection through special paints based on copper powders used against plasma nitriding. First of all the choice of copper is motivated as an important metallic component of protecting paints, with the characteristics that the copper presents in the context of the physical and chemical phenomena (from the cathode and from gas volume) specific for the ionic nitriding process. The paper contains comparatively some characteristics (the duration of drying on the coat, the compatibility of the components, the capacity of extension and of avoiding the leakage, the power of covering, the capacity of joining, and the emitting of gases, the resistance in friction before and after the ionic nitriding, the way of obtaining the copper powder and its quality, the capacity of removing after ionic nitriding etc.) of the mixtures, for the protection against ionic nitriding. Following the researches on making more efficient technologies of local protection of metal pieces on certain areas with isolated layers against plasma nitride, the authors realized 2 different kinds of special original paints noted V-1 and V-2 used for this purpose. These paints are made having a basis of copper powder combined with magnesium oxide and polystiren dissolved in carbon chloride.
