Research on the Coupling Coordination of a Sea–Land System Based on an Integrated Approach and New Evaluation Index System: A Case Study in Hainan Province, China

Abstract: Based on the concept of sea-land coordination and the statistical data of Hainan Province from 1999 to 2013, we establish a new evaluation index system included four aspects-economic development, social progress, environmental protection and resource efficiency-and use the integrated approach (such as the combination weight method, the coupling coordination degree model, the scissors difference model and the dynamic coupling coordination degree model) to measure the coupling coordination degree of a sea-land s… Show more

“…Liao () first combined coupling and coordination degree into the CCDM to evaluate the nonlinear relationships between the elements of two or more systems and factors. Since then, the model has been widely employed in the evaluation of multiple systems in different areas (Ding, Zhao, Huang, Cheng, & Liu, ; Song, Zhou, Liu, Siehr, & Qi, ; Zhao, Li, & Wu, ). The coordinated development of port and hinterland reflects the dynamic process of two systems from disorder to order.…”

“…Evolutionary stages of coupling coordination degree between the industrial structure (IS) and atmospheric environment (AE) Systems. In order to reflect the dynamic coupling of industrial structure and atmospheric environment, we further constructed the dynamic coupling coordination degree model (DCCDM), considering the dynamic and periodic characteristics of the entire system [4,54]. Based on the general system theory, the evolution equations of this compound system were expressed as [45,55]:…”

“…Furthermore, the evolution of the comprehensive level of land use efficiency was explored. In previous studies, the traditional entropy method has often led to a deviation of the evaluation results due to extreme or negative values in the evaluation [51]. In this study, compared with traditional methods, an improved entropy method was applied to measure the land use benefit coupling coordination degree in mining cities of western China, which compensated for the defect of the traditional entropy method through standardization processing.…”
