Research on Shape Control Characteristics of Non-oriented Silicon Steel for UCMW Cold Rolling Mill

Abstract: In order to analyze the flatness control characteristics for a certain UCMW (Universal Crown Mill with Work roll shifting) cold rolling mill, combined with the actual parameters in the field, a static simulation model of the quarter roll systems of the UCMW cold rolling mill was established by the ANSYS finite element software. The bearing roll gaps under the factors of the unit width rolling force, the roll bending force and the roll shift were calculated, which reflects the shape control characteristics and … Show more

“…In addition to the experimental techniques, advanced simulation methods, including finite element modeling (FEM) [20,21], molecular dynamic (MD) simulation [22,23] and atomistic-continuum coupled multiscale simulation [24,25], also play very critical roles in the research fields of tribology-related metal manufacturing and friction and wear mechanisms of materials. There are research papers in this Special Issue relevant to these advanced simulation techniques.…”

“…Furthermore, Yang et al [ 32 ] established a 3D finite‐element model of a 2180 mm ultrawide six‐high continuously variable crown (CVC) cold‐rolling mill, quantitatively yielding the key structural parameters of EDC work rolls and the effects of work‐roll bending (WRB) and WRS on the rolling mill rolls. Additionally, Tao et al [ 33 ] analyzed the shape control characteristics of universal crown (UC) mill with work roll shifting (UCMW) mills using finite‐elements simulation. They proposed that adding WRB input and optimizing the roll shape at the end of the intermediate roll can strengthen the shape control ability of the rolling mill.…”

“…However, the degree of control may vary depending on the specific actuator used. [ 18,33,88 ] Shape control actuators play a crucial role in managing the roll‐gap profile, which directly influences the final shape of the strip. The roll‐gap profile typically exhibits symmetry around the centerline and can be accurately represented by a quartic polynomial function.…”
