Research on Route Optimization of Hazardous Materials Transportation Considering Risk Equity

Abstract: The consequences of a hazmat accident can be catastrophic due to the characteristics of hazardous materials. Different from the models, which are constructed from the perspective of “government-carrier”, this paper considers the three objectives of the risk, the cost, and the compensation cost from the “government-carrier-public” perspective, so as to construct a route optimization model of hazmat transportation considering risk equity. Moreover, considering that the difference in regional emergency response t… Show more

“…Yet, a recent review paper found that there have been extraordinarily few studies of the potential to transport dangerous goods by aircraft [50]. The literature mainly covered risk assessment [51], traffic flow prediction [52], vehicle routing [53], tour length optimization [54], facility locating, scheduling, aircraft loading [55], emergency response [56], and accident cause analysis [40].…”

“…For instance, in July 2019, an oil tanker overturned and caught fire in Nigeria, resulting in 48 deaths and over 90 injuries. In June 2020, a truck transporting liquefied petroleum gas exploded on the Shenhai Expressway in Zhejiang Province, China, killing 20 people and seriously injuring 24 others [ 1 ]. Therefore, the pivotal function of dangerous goods marks should not be neglected.…”
