Abstract:The activated carbon was prepared by the two-steps carbonization-activation process with printed circuit board (PCB), using KOH, K2CO3, NaOH and Na2CO3 as activators. The influence of temperature, reaction time and the ratio between activator and material on methylene blue value was discussed. Box-behnken design was applied using Design-Expert software to optimize the conditions of preparation according to Response Surface Methodology (RSM).Results showed that activated carbon prepared by chemical activation w… Show more
“…Researches focused on the preparation of activated carbon from WPCB are few. 7,8 Activated carbon can be prepared by different activating agents. The use of alkali hydroxides (NaOH, KOH) for the production of microporous activated carbons has attracted great interest due to the valuable properties of the materials produced by this process.…”
Two activated carbons have been produced from waste printed circuit boards by NaOH by two methods, dry-mixing and wet-mixing. The carbon prepared by dry-mixing is named as AC. The carbon prepared by wet-mixing is named as WAC.
