Research on Novel Direct Instantaneous Torque Control Strategy for Switched Reluctance Motor

Abstract: In order to solve the frequent problem of breaking shaft in the starter/generator system of switched reluctance motor, a novel Direct Instantaneous Torque Control (DITC) is proposed to control the torque ripple in this paper. Instead of the hysteresis controller in traditional DITC, the PWM is introduced to modulate the torque deviation; the optimal switching signal is selected according to the PWM modulation signal and the sector where the rotor position is located. Based on the torque characteristic curves, … Show more

“…Hysteresis is key to higher performance, which is set under constant experimentation and experience. In Reference [22], for the sake of the hysteresis controller in traditional DITC, the PWM is introduced to modulate the torque deviation. However, there is no comprehensive consideration of the characteristics of the two methods, and integrate them together.…”

“…e method can output a specific reference torque by setting the switching angle reasonably and adjusting the torque change rate, so as to achieve smooth commutation and effectively reduce the torque fluctuation [19,20,22]. e TSF includes linear, sine, cosine, cubic, and exponential types.…”

“…However, this method requires complex mathematical model calculations and has large fluctuation of levitation force and torque. At present, there is a hot topic of research in applying the control methods from SRM to BSRM [15][16][17][18][19][20]. e DTC (direct torque control) and DFC can better suppress torque and levitation force ripples by setting the space voltage vector table reasonably well.…”

“…The addition of a semi-oval auxiliary core on both sides of rotor tooth alleviates the torque ripple [16]. In active method, the shaping of phase currents through switching control is employed to reduce the torque ripple [17,18]. The increase in phase number also lessens the torque ripple in SRMs.…”
