Research on Microscopic Characteristics of Remaining Oil Distribution after Strong Alkali ASP Flooding by Laser Scanning Confocal Technology

Abstract: Different types of micro-pore structure and variation characteristics after long-term washing have a greater impact on micro-remaining-oil migration direction, distribution and content. This article applied Confocal Laser Scanning Technology to study reservoir fluid property and remaining oil micro distribution after strong alkali ASP flooding. Comparing the Laser Confocal analysis pictures of natural core after water drive and ASP flooding, coming to the conclusions that strong alkali ASP flooding sweep out l… Show more

“… 8 With the help of UV excitation, confocal laser microscopy, which is a new nondestructive multilayer morphological detection method, can not only observe the deep internal structure of the sample but also perform high-speed scanning and three-dimensional image reconstruction to reflect the 3D space. 8 , 19 Figure 1 presents the schematic of confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM).…”

“…CLSM uses laser as a point light source to avoid the interference of scattered light and can detect plane to three-dimensional rock samples through multiband and multilayer tomography and receives laser excitation signals at different wavelengths. 19 The confocal principle of CLSM is diagrammatically presented in Figure 1 . The light emitted by the laser passes through the illumination pinhole to form a point light source and then forms parallel light through the lens and dichromatic mirror.…”

“…Pore structure and physical properties in reservoirs change under the chemical dissolution of rock minerals and the precipitation and agglomeration of clay mineral particles in the pore fluid because of the adsorptionflocculation of the polymer (Kazempour et al, 2013;Huang et al, 2020). Ultimately, all these changes of the pore structure and physical properties of reservoirs will affect the formation and distribution of residual oil (Liu et al, 2013;Liu et al, 2014;Liu et al, 2015;Mansa et al, 2017;Wu et al, 2015b). Therefore, it is significant for the effective development of residual oil to investigate the variation of clay minerals after ASP flooding in ultra-high-water-cut-stage reservoirs.…”
