Research on mechanical‐structure properties during sunflower seed extrusion‐oil extraction

Abstract: In order to study the force‐structure and oil out property of sunflower seed kernel under compressive loading during processing, the force‐structure properties of sunflower seeds under different compression distance, compression speed, holding time and temperature were investigated by texture analyzer combined with in‐situ optical microscopic observation for compression test on sunflower seeds. The sunflower kernel damage was analyzed with the FEM method. The results showed that the extrusion force of the sunf… Show more

“…The model can change significantly, and needs adjustment to nonlinear case calculation [28]. Considering the state change and geometric nonlinearity of the seed compression process, the structural elements with plasticity, large deflection, and large strain capacity were used in the seed model [29]. Differences in peel and flesh were ignored to simplify the model, by assuming that the materials were all homogeneous [27,30].…”

“…The COS compression tests are conducted by applying continuous displacement to upper compression plate. The equivalent (von‐Mises) stress–strain distribution cloud are obtained, equivalent force analysis is used to estimate the damage behavior (Yang et al, 2022). The resulting equivalent stress cloud is then subjected to an exhaustive analysis to further elucidate the COS mechanical property under compression.…”

“…The primary parameters ensuring the efficiency of the oil extraction process using such presses are the fullest oil extraction with minimal energy consumption [6]. Achieving these conditions is possible by refining existing designs of screw oil presses intended for using a specific type of oil-containing raw material and selecting optimal operating modes for them [7].…”
