Research on Green Power Dispatching Based on an Emergy-Based Life Cycle Assessment

Abstract: Environmental protection pressures and green energy strategies have created major challenges for a cleaner production of China’s coal-fired power generation. Although China’s electric power dispatching department has tried to prioritize clean energy, the current dispatching models lack environmental indicators related to coal-fired power generation. The main purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive environmental indicator for the cleanliness evaluation of coal-fired power plants. In this paper, the … Show more

“…The Emergy analysis quantifies three footprints, namely, renewable natural resources (R), nonrenewable natural resources (N), and imported resources (F). These footprints lead to the quantification of Emergy yield ratio (EYR), environmental loading ratio (ELR), and the Emergy Sustainability Index (ESI), which are the indicators for assessing the sustainable development of a system. ,− The total Emergy depicts the wealth of the system. The EYR, estimated by dividing the total Emergy by the imported resources, describes the economic dependence of the process on imports.…”

“…Reference [21] evaluates the environmental performance of 30 provincial-level administrative regions in China according to the ratio of thermal power generation, which inspires us to introduce indicators such as the ratio of new energy power generation and the ratio of new energy installed capacity into the environmental performance evaluation of new type thermal power enterprises. Reference [22] regards the consumption of environmentrelated resources, the level of environmental investment and the emission of pollutants in the whole life cycle of power generation enterprises as their main environmental output. Reference [23] considers that CO 2 , SO 2 , NOx, and PM2.5 are the bad outputs of the environment, and their emissions should be listed as key factors in environmental performance evaluation.…”
