PurposeIn modern urban governance, rescue materials storage points (RMSP) are a vital role to be considered in responding to public emergencies and improving a city's emergency management. This study analyzes the siting of community-centered relief supply facilities.Design/methodology/approachCombining grey relational analysis, complex network and relative entropy, a new multi criteria method is proposed. It pays more attention to the needs of the community, taking into account the use of community hospitals, fire centers and neighborhood offices to establish small RMSP.FindingsThe research results firstly found suitable areas for RMSP site selection, including Hanyang, Qiaokou, Jiangan and Wuchang. The top 10 nodes in each region are found as the location of emergency facilities, and the network parameters are higher than ordinary nodes in traffic networks. The proposed method was applied in Wuhan, China and the method was verified by us-ing a complex network model combined with multi-criteria decision-making for emergency facility location.Practical implicationsThis method solves the problem of how to choose the optimal solution and reduces the difficulty for decision makers. This method will help emergency managers to locate and plan RMSP more simply, especially in improving emergency siting modeling techniques and additionally in providing a reference for future research.Originality/valueThe method proposed in this study is beneficial to improve the decision-making ability of urban emergency departments. Using complex networks and comprehensive evaluation techniques, RMSP is incorporated into the urban community emergency network as a critical rescue force. More importantly, the findings highlight a new direction for further research on urban emergency facilities site selection based on a combination of sound theoretical basis as well as empirical evidence gained from real life case-based analysis.Highlights:Material reserve points are incorporated into the emergency supply network to maintain the advantage of quantity.Build emergency site selection facilities centered on urban communities.Use a complex network model to select the location of emergency supplies storage sites.

Public health service facilities are the fundamental component of urban medical and health services, and they are critical for realizing urban residents’ enjoyment of equitable and convenient medical services in sustainable smart cities. Spatial accessibility is an important indicator for evaluating the rationality of the layout of medical facilities from the perspective of sustainability. This study introduces a community-oriented accessibility (CA) index of public health service facilities, which considers a weighted average time model and the 15 min living circle standard for constraint, and even the service capacity of medical facilities. This study uses the proposed index to investigate the spatial accessibility of public health service facilities in the study area of Wuchang, Wuhan, China. Compared with the E2SFCA model, the proposed CA model joins the construction concept of an urban living circle, which is consistent with the domestic urban construction goals. The main findings include the following: (1) The community-oriented accessibility index of public health service facilities in the study area showed a gradual decline in the middle to sides under the walking mode and a high index in the north and low index in the south under the vehicle travel mode. (2) The calculated CA accessibility results are quite different between the walking and vehicular modes, and they are mainly affected by the allocation of the number of facilities and the distribution of the population. (3) Compared to the previous method, the calculated CA index results are more reflective of the actual situation and could be useful in guiding the spatial layout of the facilities more finely. This research explores the sustainable utilization of land resources in the planning of medical facilities and promotes the healthy and sustainable development of cities. In future studies, the population’s actual traffic conditions, weather, and holidays will be considered to further research on the accessibility of different groups and the specific impact of these factors on accessibility so as to promote people-friendly accessibility for sustainable smart cities.

Knowledge Structure and Evolution of Elderly Care Services: A Visualized Analysis

The irreversible global aging trend brings a rapid growth in demand for elderly care services, which also promotes the rapid development of relevant research, but there lacks a holistic review on it. This paper aims to conduct an analysis to reveal research hotspots and future directions with a visual display. The "Web of Science Core Collection" database is searched, and CiteSpace software is used to sort out the characteristics of related research and draw a scientific map of keywords clustering. Elderly care services research has obtained continuous attention for a long time and rapidly developed since 2017. Based on the keywords clustering, focuses of the research can be divided into five categories, namely care goals, basic pension models, innovation and provision of elderly services, as well as the demands of special elderly groups. It can be seen from keywords with strong burst that research frontiers contain care goal, endowment service institutions, frailty of the elderly, work of supply entities, and service for the aged in China. This paper proposes three directions for future research, including a multidimensional dynamic measurement of elders' demands, the interaction between elders' behavioral characteristics and services for them, and an integrated pension model combine actual contexts and novel technologies.
