Research on Application of Warm Mix Asphalt Technology in Hot In-Place Recycled Engineering

Abstract: Because of the heating limitation of old pavement and the restriction of climate, the quality of hot in-place recycled pavement was different to control. The warm m,ix asphalt technology was introduced to improve the heterogeneity and compactness of the hot in-place recycled pavement and decrease its construction temperature. The compaction characteristics of warm in-place recycled asphalt mixture were analyzed and its molding temperature was determined through the Marshall test. The pavement performance of wa… Show more

“…The specimens are shown in Figure 10. Under room temperature, an asphalt mixture exhibits significant viscoelastic properties [9]. With the increase in the number of loads, the specimen's flexural residual deformation gradually increases, the stiffness (or modulus) of the material gradually decreases, micro-cracks continuously develop, and, finally, there is a complete fracture.…”

“…Considering the disadvantages of HMA, scholars all over the world propose warm mix asphalt (WMA).WMA has more advantages comparing to the HMA in terms of environmental protection and energy consumption. Studies have shown that WMA can decrease 30°C in mixing and construction than HMA [2] and 20%~30% fuel costs [3]. In addition, each reduction of 10°C, about 0.9kg carbon dioxide emission per ton can be cancelled in the asphalt mixture production process [4].…”
