Research on an Evaluation Method for the Adaptability of TBM Tunnelling

Abstract: When a TBM carries out tunnelling in complex strata, there is often low tunnelling efficiency and an increase in tunnelling costs due to the improper selection of tunnelling parameters, the wrong estimation of geological conditions, or adverse geology, so it is necessary to evaluate the tunnelling adaptability of TBM construction. In this paper, based on hydraulic engineering in Xinjiang, 11 evaluation indexes of TBM tunnelling adaptability are determined by comprehensively considering the influence of tunnell… Show more

“…Construction organization refers to the organization and planning of manpower, capital, materials, machinery, technology, and other factors in space, time, and resources during the construction process so that the projects can be carried out in a reasonable and orderly manner and the projects quality, low cost, and fast progress can be guaranteed [17]. By using the AHP-EW model to construct the adaptability system of the TBM tunnel, Tan et al proposed that the program using modern information technology can deal with the tunnel engineering problems under uncertain conditions in the construction process and further strengthen the adaptability of TBM tunneling in the formation [18]. Fouladgar et al used the TOPSIS method to address multi-standard decision-making to identify risk parameters of uncertainty to assess the degree of risk the tunnel project encounters in the construction organization.…”

“…Guo et al [17] proposed a three-stage method to predict the collapse area in real-time by combining the data generated by TBM with the deep learning algorithm. Taking Xinjiang water conservancy project as their background context, Tan et al [18] determined 11 TBM tunnel adaptability evaluation indexes by considering the influence of tunnel excavation parameters, geological conditions and adverse geological factors on TBM tunnel adaptability.…”

“…He et al (2013) proposed that the adaptability of the TBM to roadway should be improved according to the surrounding rock conditions and TBM models after comparing different roadway excavation construction technologies. Tan et al (2022) proposed 11 evaluation indexes for TBM tunneling adaptability combined with the actual conditions of the tunnel and optimized the evaluation indexes. Zhang et al (2022) used the Bi-GRU-ATT model to study the prediction of TBM tunnel parameters, and the research shows that the model can help the TBM to make intelligent decision analysis.…”
