Research of the properties of quarry tuff-stone for complex processing

Purpose. The research purpose is to study the conditions for mining deposits of metamorphic and igneous origin to produce crushed stone products in conditions of limited electricity supply. Methods. The research uses an integrated approach, including data analysis on quarry field spatial dimensions and the overburden rock thickness, which provides the basis for identifying deposits into basic groups. For the identified groups of deposits, taking into account the hydrological characteristics of non-metallic deposits and their parameters, patterns have been determined that characterize the change in the normative atmospheric precipitation inflow, based on the quarry field area and the change in the specific costs for water drainage depending on the studied quarry field type. Based on data on technical characteristics of mobile and semi-stationary units and aggregates, the parameters of physical-mechanical properties of granites and diorites, technical-technological solutions for the formation of complexes for processing raw materials for the production of crushed stone products are proposed. Findings. Problems arising during mining operations under conditions of limited electricity supply, which is caused by mass attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, have been revealed. A systematization of deposits of igneous and metamorphic origin for mining of rock building materials, which are the basis for the production of crushed stone products, has been developed. The rates of water inflow into the mined-out space depending on the quarry field spatial parameters and the depth of mining operations have been studied. Technological schemes of the apparatuses of a complex for processing raw materials for production of crushed stone products and the apparatuses of a complex for processing siftings are proposed. Originality. Dependences of possible water inflow into the mined-out space of the quarry and change in energy consumption for water drainage have been determined, taking into account the accepted classification criteria, namely the quarry field spatial dimensions, the overburden rock thickness and the quarry depth. Practical implications. The obtained data on the possible water inflow into the mined-out space of the quarry and change in energy consumption for water drainage make it possible to assess the efficiency of pumping units. The proposed technical-technological solutions on formation of complexes for processing raw materials to produce crushed stone products have been developed in accordance with the fundamental provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On approval of the National program for the development of the mineral resource base of Ukraine for the period up to 2030”.

Modelling mineral reserve assessment using discrete kriging methods

Purpose.Develop an efficient assessment model for amber placers within the analyzed block involving its content in the samples taken inside the block as well as out of it. Methods. To obtain results, a complex of scientific procedures has been applied consisting of system analysis; generalization; mathematical statistics; mathematical, perfect, and psychical modelling; field experiment; and forecasting. Findings. Methods to assess amber placer reserves have been substantiated. The potential of discrete kriging has been involved inclusive of the search for the best evaluation of amber content within the analyzed block taking into consideration the mineral percentage in the samples taken inside the block as well as out of it. Originality. The research has helped understood that the discrete kriging results help assess average amber content within the square and curvilinear zones tending to the central well (in terms of amber percentage) both in the central well and in wells of the first and second contact zones. Practical implications.Identification of the most efficient technique, assessing amber reserves, improves forecasting reliability of the resources with minimal cost.

Impact by the operating and structural parameters of a screen on the technological parameters of vibratory basalt sieving

Purpose is to identify a dependence of basalt raw material fine screening upon the operating and structural parameters of sieving equipment. Methods. The research results have been obtained relying upon comparative analysis of basalt raw material fine screening upon the operating and structural parameters of sieving equipment. In this regard, the analyzed grading efficiency characteristics were defined for three densities of basalt rock mass mined in open pits. They are γ = 1.4 g/сm3 for tuff; γ = 2.2 g/сm3 for lava-breccia; and γ = 2.6 g/сm3 for basalt. The rock mass components are extracted selectively and processed separately. Findings. Expediency of complex mining and processing of three basalt rock mass components (being tuff, lava-breccia, and basalt) as well as their selective treatment has been identified. Mathematical modelling has helped generate regression models of fine basalt raw material sieving upon the operating and structural parameters of a screen. The regression models as well as the represented calculation results are indicative of strong correlation between the efficiency of fine basalt raw material screening and the factors involved by the regression models (i.e. rock mass density; inclination angle of a disturbance force of a vibration exciter of a screen; inclination angle of a screen effector; mesh size; specific load on a screen; disturbance frequency of a screen drive; and a screen length). Originality. For the first time, dependencies of fine basalt raw material sieving efficiency upon the operating and structural parameters of a screen have been modelled mathematically. Based upon the multifactor experiment, ideas have been developed concerning the fine grading process; selection of boundaries of each parameter control; and determination of the efficiency as well as a law of changes in technological parameters while controlling them. Practical implications. Use of the findings will help make adequate solutions while selecting instrumental conditions of an operation schedule to prepare basalt raw material for its integrated processing.
