The Internet of Things is designed to eliminate or minimize human participation in functioning intelligent devices connected to a network for improving human living conditions and their comfort in different spheres. The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things leads to a steady increase in the number of signaling protocols and data structure protocols being developed and used in the IoT, and thus, it complicates their selection when designing the IoT system. In addition, when designing a wireless IoT network, the problem of selecting an energy-efficient protocol arises, as the constant exchange of data depletes the power supply that IoT devices are equipped with. Thus, human intervention for regular battery maintenance is required. A set of rules and criteria for the selection of optimal combination of protocols when designing the IoT system is proposed. The assessment of distributed protocols according to selected criteria based on the Boolean functions has been conducted. The developed program that enables choosing the optimal combination of protocols has been presented. Automation of the protocol selection process at the initial stage will make it possible to reduce the time for designing the IoT system.

Data communication over the internet is highly swayed by protocols. So, the protocols have a very crucial role in data communication. Similarly, for the Internet of things (IoT) enabled devices the protocols have also an important role. In the Application-layer of IoT-enabled devices, the protocols have a significant role in the transfer of data from server to IoT devices and vice versa. There are different protocols are there, some are taken from web based internet protocols like Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), etc. And some are exclusively developed for IoT devices like Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT), Constraint Application Protocol (CoAP), etc. IoT-enabled devices need a lightweight, secure and fast protocols for the transfer of data. When IoT enabled devices are developed there are limited number of protocols developed for communication of IoT devices. Various protocols are developed to fulfil the need of users but they have some advantages as well as disadvantages. In this paper, analysis of the performance and comparision of these protocols through different scenarios are given.

World is now moving in the era of high information and communication technology. Under the term telemedicine and tele-cooperation research series are carried out presently, intended to enable and expand a distributed, group-related cooperative work within the area of medicine. For this purpose, applications are needed, which support real-time control processes, distributed applications, communication and cooperation technology, and the representation of shared information and data. Real-Time Protocols are the basis of telemedical applications. They are needed in almost all fields of telemedicine reaching from communication transmission to reliable data transfer. In a telemedical system, how these real-time protocols are used for communications, collaboration with telemedicine applications is worth to be explored and has been discussed in this research article along with the challenges of real-time applications and their solutions by using real-time protocols.
