Guayaquil is one of the most congested cities on the American continent. Several users cannot access on-time transport service according to the demand requested at bus stops. This work presents a simulation of the Wi-Fi technology to determine the number of users present at a bus stop. The objective is to know an estimation of them in different time intervals throughout the day, which could be useful for several actions, e.g., to set up a better distribution of transportation schedules or to place the bus stops in more demanding sites by users. The methodology included simulation scenarios for user counting at the bus stops. The results depicted that Wi-Fi technology performed suitable even in high-level attenuation scenarios.

In this paper an IP based network consisting of two separate IP networks - a virtual one, running MPLS and an experimental IP network, connected to the virtual one, have been studied. VoIP traffic is exchanged between the two networks. Both networks are connected to the Internet and exchange traffic with it. The virtual network is created by using GNS3. The purpose of this paper is to show a comparison in the performance between the two IP networks. In addition, mathematical distributions and approximations have been made to be used to further evaluate the performance of the two networks. The used methodology in the present work can be applied in the study of different IP networks through which different types of real-time traffic passes.

The determining factor in the accelerated pace of informatization is the increase in the speed and reliability of data transmission networks. In this regard, new and existing standards are developed and modernized. A lot of organizations are constantly working on the development and implementation of new generation communication networks. This article provides an overview of available software solutions that allow us to investigate and evaluate the behavior of data networks. In particular, tools suitable for mobile communication systems were determined, having sufficient built-in functionality and allowing us to add our own implementations. NS3 has been chosen as a suitable network simulator. Apart from the review, a solution for this tool was developed. It allows estimating the reliability of data transmission from the start movement of a network node at all times during its removal from a base station.
