Abstract: A cross-sectional study was conducted to measure the prevalence of hypertension among 310 rural school children in Tamil Nadu. The prevalence of hypertension and pre-hypertension was 10% and 14.2%, respectively. Prevalence was significantly higher among and private school students. We recommend that children should be screened for hypertension for early diagnosis and prevention of complications.
