Research Hotspots and Trends Analysis of Patellar Instability: A Bibliometric Analysis from 2001 to 2021

Abstract: BackgroundPatellar instability is a common multifactorial disease in orthopedics, which seriously affects the quality of life. Because of the unified pathogeny, diagnosis and treatment, patellar instability has gradually attracted the interest of more scholars these years, resulting in an explosive growth in the research output. This study aims to summarize the knowledge structure and development trend in the field from the perspective of bibliometrics.MethodsThe data of articles and reviews on patellar instab… Show more

“…In Chinese medicine, patellar instability may be caused by the liver and kidney deficiency and blood stagnation and is usually treated with medicines to nourish the liver and kidneys along with medicines to invigorate blood circulation and remove blood stasis [ 20 ]. If there is wind, cold, or dampness, treatment is added with drugs to dispel wind, cold, and dampness, such as the deblooming and activating pill [ 21 ]. The adverse consequences of patellar instability can also be treated with TCM physiotherapy methods, such as acupuncture treatment or massage treatment, or a combination of acupuncture and massage, which can be more effective in a two-pronged approach [ 22 ].…”

“…The Lingo algorithm, proposed by Osiński S (50), differs from traditional STC clustering algorithms in that it produces many small clusters and places great emphasis on the descriptive quality of the clusters. We performed a cluster analysis of these keywords to help identify some standard labels in the literature with similar characteristics and reveal hotspots (51,52). The two most significant clusters reiterate the focus in the field of hemorrhoids.…”

“…Developing trends and frontiers of research areas can be obtained by analyzing thematic maps. In Figure 8C, the thematic map generated by the R-Bibliometric software package was displayed in four quadrants, and the importance and centrality of the theme were represented by X and Y axes, respectively (46). The motor theme represented an important and well-developed theme, the niche theme represented a highly developed and isolated theme, the basic theme represented a basic area of research, and the emerging or declining themes Different bibliometric software emphasizes different aspects based on different algorithms.…”
