Research for the Control System of a Pulsed Power Permanent Linear Synchronous Motor

Abstract

Pulsed power linear motor is the basic power device in electromagnetic launching (EML) technology, this technology combines with permanent magnetic linear synchronous motor(PMLSM), a pulsed power permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PP-PMLSM) is generated. In this paper, the analysis of cogging force and thrust characteristic of this type of motor are presented, and the scheme comparison of bilateral magnet arranged by N face S with N face N direction is made, at last, the digital control system of the PP-PMLSM is designed and realized. The system design is simple, and it improves the control effect.Index Terms-pulsed power; synchronous motor; linear motor I. INTRODUCTION ulsed power linear motor is the basic power device in EML technology; it is a technology of receiving energy from the energy storage system, and then propelling the object to accelerate in short time. EML technology has many advantages compared with traditional launching technology, such as high initial velocity, large load range, simple energy device, easy to control, suppressible, etc. [1]. At present, the main application includes carrier aircraft launching, unmanned aircraft launching and missile/rocket launching, etc [2]. This technology combines with PMLSM, the PP-PMLSM is generated, this type of motor is mainly used in such short-term acceleration occasions, and it can produce high thrust to accelerate the objects to the desired velocity in a short period. Currently, the PP-PMLSM application is not very extensive, what is the most concerned by domestic and foreign scholars is EML technology [3][4]. In this paper, a type of PP-PMLSM and its control system are studied; the thrust and cogging force are also analyzed. Finally, space vector and PI control algorithm are used to control the motor system.
