Research and Application of Radial Borehole Fracturing Based on Numerical Simulation

Abstract: The radial borehole fracturing technology has been applied in a certain number of oilfields with good results being achieved. However, the morphology and variation of fracture still require further study. In this paper, the reservoir model based on formation fluid-solid coupling equation is established with the extended finite element method (XFEM) in ABAQUS, and the fracture morphologies in the single-radial borehole, vertical multiradial borehole, and horizontal multiradial borehole are simulated and analyze… Show more

“…RJD technology can increase the contact area with reservoir, establish high diversion channel, and efficiently exploit complex oil and gas reservoirs, which has achieved good application. Combined with reservoir simulation technologies such as hydraulic fracturing, full three-dimensional reconstruction can be realized to achieve the goal of enhanced oil recovery [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. Recently, with more and more attention paid to clean energy, RJD technology is considered as an effective geothermal and hydrate resource development technique [14][15][16][17].…”
