Research and Analysis of Pressure-Maintaining Trapping Instrument for Macro-Organisms in Hadal Trenches

Abstract: The ecosystem of the abyss is one of the fields that humans hardly know. The ultra-high hydrostatic pressure makes it very difficult to obtain abyssal organisms. Samples are often severely broken during recovery due to changes in environmental pressure, temperature, and other factors. Currently, there are no macro-organism samplers suitable for the abyss. The development of a pressure-maintaining sampler for the abyss is a prerequisite for abyssal ecosystem research. This paper mainly proposed a pressure-maint… Show more

“…Considerable advances in technology for the exploration of deep-sea life have been made since the turn of the 21st century, including full-ocean-depth-rated modular landers developed for in situ measurements and renewed high-pressure culture techniques, resulting in the development of hadal microbial communities as a research hotspot. There are several extensive reviews on hadal environment macro-organisms (Bruun 1950;Wang et al 2020;Xu et al 2018) but here we focus on microbial adaptation to the hadal zone environment and the technological developments supporting the exploration of microbial life in this unique biosphere.…”

“…Some scholars have researched deep-sea pressure and heat preservation sampling, but there has been no report on the dynamic response analysis of deep-sea organisms during the sampling process. However, the dynamic responses of the tissues and organs of deep-sea organisms during the sampling process are the key factors affecting biological activity (Billings et al, 2017;Garel et al, 2019;Peoples et al, 2019;Wang et al, 2020). Because the hadal snailfish lives in the extreme environment of the deep sea, its dynamic response during the capture process cannot be analyzed in a laboratory.…”
