Abstract:Older patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) had higher injury severity scores, longer hospital stays, and were significantly more likely to be discharged to an institution rather than younger patients. Treating SCI and promoting neural tissue regeneration is a major challenge for current medical technologies in an aging society. Tissue engineering scaffolds can provide a microenvironment suitable for cell survival and promote nerve tissue regeneration, and thus have become a promising therapeutic intervention… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
