Reprogramming Antagonizes the Oncogenicity of HOXA13-Long Noncoding RNA HOTTIP Axis in Gastric Cancer Cells

Abstract: Reprogramming of cancer cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is a compelling idea for inhibiting oncogenesis, especially through modulation of homeobox proteins in this reprogramming process. We examined the role of various long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs)-homeobox protein HOXA13 axis on the switching of the oncogenic function of bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP7), which is significantly lost in the gastric cancer cell derived iPS-like cells (iPSLCs). BMP7 promoter activation occurred through the co… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 3B, the expression of 5 lncRNAs (HOTAIR, HOTTIP, HOXA11-AS, HOXB-AS4, and HOXC-AS3) generated in HOX family genes were negatively correlated with their methylation levels. The functions of these 17 lncRNAs are listed in Supplementary Table S4; only 6 of the lncRNAs have been reported to function GC (Zhang et al, 2014;Liu et al, 2015;Sun et al, 2016;Wu et al, 2017;Liu et al, 2018;Zhang et al, 2018;Song et al, 2019).…”

“…In recent years, the role of HOXA13 in cancer has been extensively investigated. It has been revealed that HOXA13 expression levels are associated with the occurrence of tumors of the digestive tract, gliomas, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, bladder cancer and ovarian cancer ( 17 24 ). There are currently only two studies on the role of HOXA13 in lung cancer.…”

“…HOTTIP, located on 7p15.2, plays a pivotal role in a number of human cancers, including gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and colorectal cancer [14][15][16]. High HOTTIP expression has been detected in human HCC specimens and associated with the clinical progression and disease outcome of HCC patients [15].…”
