Background: Studies have shown that adolescents find diabetes management difficult and struggle with incorporating diabetes management into their daily life. A focus on issues adolescents perceive as important is necessary when designing high quality interventions aimed at improving health outcomes for adolescents with T1D. The present study aimed to provide: (1) a broad comprehensive reflection on issues adolescents with diabetes perceive as important; (2) a basis for developing a ‘Family Mirror’, specifically designed to generate dialogue in families with an adolescent with T1D. Methods: The qualitative data originate from 11 workshops with a total of 47 adolescents with diabetes between 8 and 18 years of age. Data were systematically analyzed. Results: Seven overarching, empirical themes were identified that provided an outline of aspects important to adolescents living with T1D: (1) Support, (2) Understanding, (3) Worries, (4) Limitations, (5) Independence, (6) Perceptions, and (7) Management. Several empirical indicators elaborated on the themes, thus creating a comprehensive reflection of life with T1D during adolescence. Conclusion: Given our comprehensive and broad approach to uncovering key aspects adolescents with diabetes perceive as important, we trust that the findings can be used as a basis for designing interventions intended for adolescents with T1D.

Storm Xynthia (2010) brought to the fore marine submersion as a great concern to French authorities and communities. This storm illustrates how a single major event can have long lasting effects on climate risk management. To discern this effect, we conduct two studies analysing the emergence and evolution of concerns related to marine submersion in French national and regional newspapers prior to and after the storm (2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018). In Study 1, we examine trends in issue coverage and how 'marine submersion' was appropriated by French media discourse over the selected period, identifying and segmenting specific topical sequences. In Study 2, a computer-assisted content analysis of 260 articles highlights a dichotomy of themes before and after Storm Xynthia. Articles published prior to Xynthia (2005Xynthia ( -2009 warned of marine submersion among the expected impacts of climate change. Those published just after Xynthia (2010-2013) present highly structured and technical descriptions of national risk management policies. In recent years (2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018), articles focus on local stakeholders' challenge to national risk management policies, described as too far removed from local dynamics.Our studies reveal the emergence and amplification, via public debate in French newspaper media, of 'marine submersion' as a hazard, and the objectification of the risk through Storm Xynthia.

A total of 10 focus groups were held with adolescents living with diabetes, their parents and health professionals in order to explore their needs in therapeutic education. The analysis showed that the relationship of trust was a central concern for a number of participants. Several adults were divided between a feeling of confidence inspired by the need to empower adolescents to cope with the chronic condition and a sense of distrust inspired by the idea of carelessness and irresponsibility thought to characterize adolescence. Adolescents, for their part, seemed relatively clear-sighted about how they can be perceived, and blamed adults for not trusting them. These findings emphasize the importance of considering the representations at stake in the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship in order to better understand the construction of the relational climate.
