Representation of a photosensitive Schottky barrier diode made with hetero-dinuclear cobalt(iii)/sodium building blocks

Abstract: A hetero-dinuclear cobalt(iii)/sodium complex has been synthesized and characterized. The complex which has been used to construct photosensitive Schottky devices, shows interesting C–H⋯π(N3) interactions in the solid state.

“…This inspires to fabricate thin film device as metal (Al)–semiconductor (synthesized complex 1 ) (MS) junction (see Supporting Information). [ 31 ] The current–voltage (I‐V) diagram of the device has been drawn upon collecting data at dark and light irradiation (intensity ~100 mWcm −2 ) at 300 K corresponding to applied bias voltage sequentially within the limit ±2 V (Figure 8). All the study was carried out under N 2 filled glove.…”

“…Therefore, a metal (Al)-semiconductor (synthesized complexes) (MS) junction thin film device has been fabricated following the method reported in our earlier work (details given in the ESI †). 30 The currentvoltage plots of the complex based devices have been explored at room temperature (27 °C) in the absence of light and also in the presence of photo-irradiation (the intensity of light is approximately 100 mW cm −2 ) at the corresponding applied bias voltage sequentially within the limit of ±2 V to investigate the electrical properties by analysing the charge transport behaviour. All experiments were performed in a nitrogen-filled glove box and at a laboratory temperature of 299 K. The current-voltage characteristics of the synthesized ligand and complex based devices (CD1 for complex 1 and CD2 for complex 2) have been studied under dark and irradiation conditions and are shown in Fig.…”

“…A simple monomer complex with different non-covalent interactions can show conduction. [29][30][31] Here comes the importance of supramolecular interactions and crystal engineering. [32][33][34] Analysing the crystal packing which contains several supramolecular interactions can easily be tuned by substituting suitable functional groups or atoms (halogens, chalcogens etc.).…”
