El presente estudio informa sobre el estado del arte en la aplicación de factores del enfoque de ingeniería de prototipado, a partir de estudios de caso de maquinaria fabricada por centros de investigación de la Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) en Cochabamba-Bolivia para determinar lineamientos que permitan estructurar estrategias de prototipado amplias, analíticas e intuitivas. Los centros de investigación vinculados a los estudios de casos, llevaron a cabo procesos de creación de prototipos basados en la acumulación de conocimientos prácticos de investigadores, estudiantes y técnicos. Las lecciones aprendidas del enfoque de Ingeniería de Prototipado en la UMSS muestran que, para mejorar sus estrategias de prototipado, es recomendable el uso de tipologías clave para una ingeniería eficiente: utilización de materiales y técnicas similares al diseño final, fabricación del prototipo en el centro de investigación, contar con un conjunto de subsistemas, espacios de aprendizaje inter y transdisciplinarios, inclusión de todos los componentes y funcionalidad total del equipo. El enfoque de ingeniería de prototipado fue más reactivo que sistemático. Todavía hay oportunidades para mejorar este enfoque y crear nuevos métodos, que también implicarán, el enfoque de gestión de prototipado, para explicar el impacto de las decisiones sobre los recursos de un proyecto.

Citation context analysis is used to demonstrate the diversity of concept symbols that a book-length publication can represent and the diffusion of influence of these concepts over time and across scholarly disciplines. A content analysis of 574 citation contexts from 497 journal articles citing an edition of Frederick P. Brooks, Jr's The Mythical Man-Month (MMM) over the period 1975-1999 showed that MMM represents a variety of different concepts and is cited in a wide range of subject areas. Over time, a high level of interest in MMM spread from software engineering and computer science to management and information systems, with different areas showing different patterns of focus on concepts within the work. 'Brooks' Law' (the 'mythical man-month' or 'adding more people to a late project makes it later'), accounted for less than 30% of the classified citation contexts. The findings contribute to our understanding of the diffusion of ideas in scholarly communication, and the diversity that can underlie the creation of a reference in a scholarly publication.

Abstract. In recent decades, "agile" software development methodologies have been put forth as an alternative to traditional "waterfall" methodologies. These agile methods advance a fundamentally different approach to software development. Empirical evidence indicates differences between the two with respect to outcomes and development experience. Yet little is known to what extent the actual development practices based on either agile or traditional life cycle methodologies differ. In the current study we examine the variation in performative routines during software development by contrasting agile and traditional lifecycle process models using event sequencing method for detecting activity variations among recorded performative processes in the selected projects. Our analysis shows that performative enactment of waterfall and agile ostensive routines do differ in terms of activity types carried out in the early requirements steps. However, performative routines did show conformance to ostensive specifications in iterations, affordance types, and design objects used.
