“…And of perhaps even more significance is the fact that professional associations, which typically provide the basic source for instigat,ing curriculum changes, have not given much emphasis to the inclusion of guidance and/or counseling training in the health education curriculum. Although knowledge of the behavioral sciences (e.g., decision making, belief structure, value systems, learning theory, community organization, and group dynamics) and of the general area of mental health is endorsed for the common core of the graduate curriculum in health education, the curriculum committee ,for the American Academy of Physical Education (24) makes no mention of guidance or counseling.…”
