Replications of fundamental research models in ultra high dilutions 1994 and 2015 – update on a bibliometric study

Abstract: We found 28 experimental models which underwent replication. In total, 24 models were replicated with comparable results, 12 models with zero effect, and 6 models with opposite results. Five models were externally reproduced with comparable results. We encourage further replications of studies in order to learn more about the model systems used.

“…Again, a new bibliometric analysis was made this issue. 55 In the 2010 review, the most important conclusions were the following: (i) the methodological quality of the majority of the papers was adequate, in which blinded procedures and the randomization of samples were considered, (ii) convergence between the experimental results and respective materia medica pointed to the plausibility of the similia principle, (iii) most of the experimental studies on homeopathy and isopathy were useful for understanding complex biological phenomena, such as parasite-host relationships, and (iv) most of the studies pointed to the ability of high dilutions to recover a steady state in the organism to control levels after they were challenged with aggressive stimuli.…”

“…Ebenso existieren mehrere erfolgreich unabhängig replizierte experimentelle Modelle [33]. Keines davon konnte aber in allen unabhängigen Wiederholungsversuchen dieselben Resultate hervorbringen [34]. Zudem sind die gemessenen Effekte nicht selten so klein oder streuen derart stark, dass sie hart an der "Rauschgrenze" der verwendeten Testsysteme liegen [35,36].…”

“…To address this issue, Prof Chris Endler (Austria) presented his team's literature review on experiments performed using laboratory based model systems, identifying many interesting and successful replications which may point to the most promising experimental models for use in future investigations. 8 Exploring fundamental homeopathic research in even finer detail, Dr Steven Cartwright (UK) and Dr Alexander Tournier (France) presented their findings on what might be happening at the molecular and sub-molecular level during dilution and succussion in the potentisation process. Dr Tournier presented preliminary results of a systematic review of publications investigating homeopathy using physico-chemical means, focussing on experiments using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.…”
