Repair of Large Lateral Forehead and Temporal Wound

Michael S. Anderson,
Richard G. Bennett

Abstract: A 91-year-old man was referred with a 0.8-3 1.0-cm pearly papule in a larger ill-defined sclerotic plaque on the left temple that on biopsy showed a basal cell carcinoma. The tumor was removed by Mohs micrographic surgery in 6 stages resulting in a wound that measured 4.0 3 5.0 cm (Figure 1). The defect involved the left lateral forehead and superior temple, sparing the eyebrow. How would you repair this defect? Figure 1. Defect after tumor was excised with Mohs surgery.
