“…The fossils will be prepared at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, and later stored at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Permits from the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management (permit numbers: MTM 109606, MTM 109606-e1, MTM 109606-e2, MTM 109606-e3, MTM 109606-e4) were issued to Schein et al (2019) in order to allow for excavation of fossils. A quarry map has yet to be made but locations of all fossils have been recorded with a surveyor’s transit.…”

“…An incomplete basibranchial plate of Paralbula casei represents the only member of Phyllodontidae in our sample. This taxon was named by Estes (1969) for a fragmentary basibranchial plate collected from the Maastrichtian of New Jersey, and it has since been confirmed from various Cretaceous localities in both Canada and the USA (Estes 1969;Schein et al 2011). Occurrences of P. casei outside of North America are rare, with the only known occurrence being from Ypresian (lower Eocene) deposits in the United Kingdom (Estes 1969).…”

“…Remarks. Two species of Paralbula have a temporal range during the Late Cretaceous, including Paralbula casei Estes, 1969and Paralbula marylandica Blake, 1940(Estes 1969Schein et al 2011). According to Estes (1969), these species are readily differentiated by the ornamentation on their teeth.…”

“…Class Osteichthyes Huxley, 1880 Subclass Actinopterygii (sensu Goodrich, 1930) Unranked Paralbula marylandica is the only smoothcrowned species to be reported in North America, but the stratigraphic range of this taxon is thus far only known to extend from the lower Paleocene to middle Eocene (Blake 1940;Estes 1969;Weems 1999;Schein et al 2011;Ebersole et al 2019). Paralbula stromeri is the only member of the genus known to have a range that extends into the upper Eocene (Priabonian), but this species has thus far only been confirmed from Egypt and the United Kingdom (Weiler 1929;Estes 1969).…”
