Renewable energy, economic freedom and economic policy uncertainty: New evidence from a dynamic panel threshold analysis for the G-7 and BRIC countries

Abstract: This study aims to demonstrate the impact of renewable energy consumption (REC) on environmental degradation using the EKC hypothesis testing for the BRIC and G-7 countries. Two EKC models were created and tested, with Model 2 including REC and other independent variables such as economic freedom (EF) and economic policy uncertainty (EPU), which affect the level of renewable energy consumption and CO 2 emissions. Empirical findings indicate that the EKC hypothesis is verified faster in t… Show more

“…In more developed OECD countries, causality from energy to GDP is more significant than in the less developed countries. Research results that are evidence of this pattern have significant practical implications: Reducing energy consumption will have more effect on GDP in developed countries than in less developed ones [13,14].…”

“…However, for China's special institution of administrative divisions, administrative interference in the judiciary and judicial local protectionism still exist. In this context, courts may face the risk of reduced financial budgets if they make decisions affecting local interests in the trial of administrative litigation (Işık et al, 2023;Zhang, 2003). Particularly in the case of intermediate and the primary courts, factors such as limited financial input and one-way dependence on the financial department have a significant impact on their position in the political power structure.…”

“…Renewable energy consumption reduces carbon consumption and saves resources by reducing the environmental cleaning costs of businesses (Işık et al 2023b). Moreover, according to Işık et al (2023a), while economic indicators play a major role in the success of the tourism industry, it is recommended for policy makers to correlate environmental pollution indices with export rates in the tourism industry where natural resources are used as a supply.…”
