Der Urologe [B] 6•2001 | 567 Zum Thema Als Urosepsis bezeichnet man eine von den Harnorganen ausgehende Sepsis, wobei in den meisten Fällen eine oder beide Nieren im Sinne einer schweren, zum Teil abszedierenden Pyelonephritis beteiligt sind. Dazu liegt fast immer eine Harnabflussstörung vor. Es kommt zum Übertritt endotoxinbildender Mikroorganismen in die Blutbahn. Dabei handelt es sich zumeist um gramnegative Erreger wie E. coli (>50%), Klebsiellen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus und Enterobacter cloacae, die bei nosokomialen Infektionen oft polyresistent sind. Alle urogenitalen Infektionen können Fokus einer Bakteriämie sein.
